RSHE and Citizenship

Intent

We aim that children at St. Cuthbert’s grow to appreciate the world around them and become stewards of God’s world taking these virtues into adult life.

We are embracing “the challenges of creating a happy and successful adult life” by giving children knowledge “that will enable them to make informed decisions about their wellbeing, health and relationships” from school age to adulthood.

Implementation

We use two schemes to deliver the programme; Ten:Ten Life to the Full and Twinkl Life.

Ten:Ten

We use the Diocesan approved Ten:Ten Life to the Full programme from Reception to Year Six. Lessons are taught with a ‘spiral’ approach to learning, in which children will revisit the same topics at an age-appropriate stage through their school life. The entire teaching is underpinned with a religious understanding that our deepest identity is as a child of God – created, chosen, and loved by God. It is fully inclusive of all pupils and their families.

  • Module One; Created and loved by God
  • Module Two; Created to love others
  • Module Three; Created to live in the community

For the Ten:Ten Life to the Full, parents are informed about the content every year via the Parent Portal with an opportunity to ask questions about the delivery of the programme.

Twinkl Life

To enhance our citizenship learning we use Twinkl Life resources to cover:

  • Money management
  • British Values
  • Growth Mindset
  • Digital Wellbeing.
