Here at St. Cuthbert’s, we aim to deliver a creative, knowledge rich, skills-based History curriculum, which develops the whole child. We aim to offer a high-quality History education that will help pupils gain secure knowledge and understanding of Britain’s past and that of the wider world. Our aim is for the children to really appreciate and dive deep into History and to become independent and creative learners. We want our children to be critical thinkers and problem solvers and we ensure our History curriculum provides many opportunities for this. In order for the children to fully achieve this, we dedicate the whole of the Autumn term to History. To ensure that the learning is meaningful to the children and has purpose, each Year group works towards an authentic outcome to show case their learning, which often includes feedback from a professional such as an author, artist, historian. Our ultimate goal is for the children progress and develop history skills throughout their time at St. Cuthbert’s and grow into independent and inquisitive learners.
