Part of our outdoor learning for our Magna Carta history was to look at the differences in social groups in the Middle Ages. This included what their diets included. We made medieval pottage using just vegetables and herbs. The children used proper kitchen knives to prepare the vegetables and they each had a stir when it was cooking. We had a conversation about how laborious cooking was in medieval England and how limited the ingredients were for peasants. It was a great success, most people had two or three servings!
'A great afternoon I loved it. The soup was amazing !' Louisa
