Liturgical Calendar
September - Month of Creation
At St. Cuthbert's the children are very familiar with the Laudato Si message from the Pope. They enjoying singing the song and understand that it is important to look after the world around us. In September, the children wrote prayers for our whole school prayer tree. We prayed some of these prayers in whole school worship. The Head Boy and Head Girl led a beautiful liturgy from CAFOD about Laudato Si to remind the school of the important messages in the Pope's letter.
October - Month of the Rosary
In October, every class prayer the Rosary in some form each day. On a Friday the Head Boy and Head Girl lead the prayers set by Mark's Mission; Rosary Challenge. The prayer leaders attended prayer formation sessions to enable them to successfully and confidently lead Thursday prayer groups in Our Lady's prayer garden.
November - Month of All Souls
In November, our school community remember their loved ones in Heaven. We celebrated with a Mass led by Canon Chris on the theme of All Holy Souls.
We also have a November List. This is where all of the St. Cuthbert community can add their intentions to our prayer list. We pray over this list in class and in celebration assembly on a Friday.
The PTA kindly bought some spring time bulbs this year, that each family received to plant and to help visualise new life reflecting heaven, when the bulbs grow in the Spring time. These went home with a prayer card. Canon Chris blessed the bulbs in a liturgy led by Mrs Gray.
December - Advent
What the children thought
Aksel – It was really special to me because we were the first ones in the school history to experience this. It made me feel like blessed because I felt Jesus and God in my heart.
Theo – It made me feel that I was Jesus and God.
Eleanor – It made me feel like Jesus was there because on the monstrance it reminded me of Jesus’ crown.
Evelyn – It really enhanced my connection with Jesus and God because just knowing that it (the Eucharist) has come out of the Church to see me and my class. We got to do the six minutes of silent prayer and that was really magical and special.
Lily – It actually made me feel happy and calm because now I know what prayers I can say when I wake up in the morning. Now I know I can say short payers to God.
Auriah – I felt like Jesus was watching me whilst we were doing our silent prayer. It was really beautiful.
