Year 2

Home Learning

Home learning is sent home on a Wednesday via the Seesaw platform and is expected to be completed and handed in by the following Monday; this can be submitted through photos or videos on Seesaw or as a paper copy. Learning alternates weekly between Maths and English, alongside an additional subject that either supports learning for the upcoming week or reinforces learning from the previous week. Spelling logbooks are sent home on Mondays and should be handed in on Wednesday, and reading records are also required to be handed in on Monday, although reading books are changed throughout the week, so please ensure books are in school on that day. In addition, playing on Numbots three to four times a week will help develop basic Maths skills.

Enrichment

Autumn - The children will take part in an exciting Great Fire of London workshop, bringing this important historical event to life through hands-on activities. To enhance their learning even further, our local fire safety team will visit to deliver a special talk, helping the children understand how fire safety has changed and why it is still so important today.

Spring - The children will be delighted to welcome a grandparent into school to share stories about holidays from the past, giving them a fascinating insight into how travel and leisure have changed over time. In art, we will explore a range of textures by taking a sensory walk around the school, encouraging the children to observe, collect, and discuss different surfaces they find, which will then inspire their creative work.

Summer - The children will enjoy an inspiring school trip to Royal Holloway, where they will learn about local heroes and discover the important roles they have played within our community. They will also take part in an exciting tennis session led by Wentworth, giving them the opportunity to develop new skills while learning from sporting experts.
