Official opening - 7th June 2022!
The Worshipful the Mayor of Runnymede, Cllr Margaret Harnden will officially open the prayer garden on Tuesday 7th June. The prayer garden is the Ambassadors Jubilee project that you so generously made possible, and which was supported by Homebase Staines and Englefield Building Contractors.
Stage 2 planting now undertaken - but a garden is never finished!
Homebase, Staines generously donated more that £200 of plants to our garden! Many thanks to Homebase and Angi, photographed with Luca and Dominik here:
Stage 1 work made possible due to your generosity - thank you!
At our February PTA meeting, two Year 6 ambassadors put forward their proposal for renovating the prayer garden, on behalf of the other Year 6 ambassadors.
All at the meeting were very impressed with the presentation and the research the children they had undertaken. We were really keen that the children would see a change to the prayer garden while at St Cuthbert's and we suggested this should be a Jubilee Project for the school.
Thanks to families' huge generosity during the Autumn term, we were able to agree to fund initial stage 1 improvement works the prayer garden, with the intention of reducing costs as far as possible by encourage the school community to help. This is still the case and we would be very grateful your continued support in various ways over the coming weeks.
We received a competitive quote from Englefield Building Contractors (EBC) for the clearance, levelling and fencing of the garden, which we accepted - Stage 1 work could begin! EBC were able to start on site very quickly and worked with the ambassadors to understand their brief. Look at these fabulous photos of the ambassadors on site with the builders!
And here they are discussing the project with Tom from EBC and getting some tips for future projects! Click CC for subtitles.
In addition to the work quoted for, EBC provided an additional planter bed at the back of the garden using some sleepers, made a path leading up to the garden and also improved the base of the statue of Our Lady with some new shingle.
A big THANK YOU to Englefield Building Contractors!
Thanks also to others who provided advice to the PTA Committee, including Groundworks 95 Ltd
