Christmas 2022 update and thank yous
Thank you all for your fabulous support this term!
This update includes:
PTA 2023/24 and a review of the constitution
With the Christmas Fair under our belts, perhaps you might like to become more actively involved with the PTA? Jennie, the current Chair, works 4 days a week, including two in London and finds that the commute often gives an opportunity to volunteer with the PTA. The Treasurer and Secretary work full time. Other frequent supporters are not in paid work, but also lead very busy lives. It isn't just about being at school, although there are certainly roles that require it, tuck shop serving in particular, and we are very grateful to those who can make it happen. If you think you can give some of your time, whether it is in person or digitally, then please get in touch. There are social media accounts to run and a website to update, as well as coordinating events. We would also like to look into how corporates can support us. We should seek to ensure our events and operation work for all families and all members of families at least some of the time - your thoughts on achieving that would be most welcome.
In the immediate term, transferring to the Xavier Trust means the PTA's constitution requires review. If you can help with this please contact us.
Supporting the PTA while shopping and relaxing
This term, you raised £65 via Easyfundraising and Amazon Smile. If you haven't signed up already please consider doing so - see this link.
The Neurographica exhibition is currently taking place- 10 per cent of Lara's art sales will be donated to the PTA.
And get a free no-obligation home or car quotation from Sutton Winson and they will give £10 back to your chosen community. If you decide to buy that insurance quote from them, they will pay an additional £20, or more https://www.suttonwinson.com/pitchin/
Save the date - Coronation and 60 years of St Cuthbert's at Corby Drive event
Circus Pazaz are returning to St Cuthbert's on 3rd and 4th May to help us celebrate the Coronation and 60 years of the school building! (The school was originally in the social hall on Harvest Road.)
On 3rd May, there will be two circus shows, tickets prices to be confirmed. On 4th May there will be workshops for all the children who are in that day, provided by the PTA. We would be grateful for your support at any time between 11am and 7pm on 3rd May, to assist with the sideshows and putting up the big top. Also after school on 4th May, to assist the Circus team with taking down the big top.
Funraising and fundraising successes
In addition to events, tuck shop has run for many weeks of the term, raising £1508 this term (albeit some will transfer to next term). Tuck shop is our biggest fundraiser and a great deal of effort goes into running it and into preparing wonderful bakes. Thanks in particular to Ilona for coordinating the rota and looking for opportunities to improve procedures, and to Maurine and Odalyse for preparing a guide to good practice and the new style operation of tuck shop.
The disco, organised by Emma (Y3) and Ness (Y2) with DJ Simon (Y3 and Y5) was a fabulous night and raised £844.
The Christmas Fair was a huge team success with the majority of families supporting it with pre-event prep, raffle donations, set-up, serving, clear up and by attending. Thanks to our sponsors; Groundworks 95 Ltd, Englefield Building Contractors and Nevin and Wells and to those who donated to via the link for those who could not attend (one of which was substantial). £2,413 was raised!
The refreshments after the KS2 advent liturgy were a lovely idea, proposed and run by Paul Mould (Chair of Governors) and Laura (Year 5). £137.49 was donated, of which £65 has been passed to the Parish Support Fund for parishioners who need support and the remainder included in the Christmas Fair total.
And finally, the declutter and donate link, where donations are made following uniform or other unwanted items being exchanged raised £40. Please ask you rep how to join the Declutter and Donate Facebook group.
Gift for Mrs Lowe - thank you
We bought Mrs Lowe a £265 John Lewis voucher and gave her a bunch of flowers. Mrs Lowe asked us to "pass on my thanks to all the parents for their very generous gift, wishing you all a happy and holy Christmas and new year with lots of love and thanks".
Mrs Rainbow also thanks the PTA volunteers - which is most of us - for the time and effort committed this term
Merry Christmas!
