Science
At St Cuthbert’s Science is a valued and important core subject. The children are taught throughout the school to develop an enquiring mind to make predictions and to investigate for themselves, to make scientific discoveries and to record their work in an interesting and informative way. The four areas of science that all pupils study are:
Scientific enquiry
Life processes and living things
Materials and their properties
Physical processes
At St Cuthbert’s we have found that Science both stimulates and excites pupil’s curiosity about phenomena and events in the world around them. Children leave our school in Year 6 with a broad and balanced understanding of scientific ideas coupled with practical experience. Over the years our end of year assessments and National Curriculum results have always been of a high standard.
