Miss Hill (class teacher)
The learning focus for our Spring term project is geography (Explore). Our concept question was ‘How Can I Grow?’ And our concept words are ‘responsibility’, ‘choice’ and ‘appreciation’. The children are learning about physical and human geography, learning how to make aerial maps and other mapping skills. They will also compare and contrast the geographical features of the United Kingdom and Japan.
Our RE themes, as always, drive our learning. This term we will cover ‘Special People’ (The local church and community), ‘Meals’ (Eucharist) which will focus on Mass as Jesus’ special meal and ‘Change’ (Giving and Lent); knowing and understanding that we change and grow and that Lent is a time to change in preparation for the celebration of Easter.
As part of our Stunning Start to our history project on Queen Victoria, we visited Windsor Castle where we took part in a workshop called 'Dear Diary' which was all about Queen Victoria and her life, both personal and public. We learned lots of interesting facts and even held a coronation ceremony. We then explored the castle and we all enjoyed looking around the rooms that Queen Victoria used.
