Welcome to Year 2!
Hello and welcome to the Year Two section of the website.
Please do come and check out the page regularly, as it is often being updated with pictures of the children's wonderful learning.
PE is on Monday and Friday this term.
PE kits should be in school from Monday to Friday.
For PE children need trainers, St Cuthbert's PE shorts, t-shirt, tracksuit bottoms and jumper.
This will be sent home on a Friday and is expected back in school the following Tuesday. This may be based on our Project learning or it may have a SPAG or Maths focus. Home Learning will be sent either via Seesaw or as a hard copy with the children. Please also encourage your children to regularly use Time Table Rock Stars too.
Reading is slightly different to normal this year and therefore there are no reading records to be sent in and signed. Children's books are sent home on a Thursday and are to be returned on a Monday. If your child does not return the book on Monday it will unfortunately not be changed.
In school we make time for independent reading. We have books in the Year Two library that the children are able to read, however, if your child is reading chapter books, then please encourage them to bring them into school to read during this time.
We also listen to the children read daily during Guided Reading. This gives the teacher an accurate representation of how your child is getting on with their reading.
In Year Two the children all need a pencil case. This will stay in school in the children's own tray. Please ensure that the pencil case is not too bulky as if this is the case it does not fit in the trays.
In the pencil case needs to be;
- 2 HB pencils
- short ruler
- pencil sharpener
- red pen for editing
- whiteboard pen
- colouring pencils
- glue stick
- named pencil case
All equipment needs to be clearly labelled and in school every day.
We spend lots of time outside in Year Two. We have an outside classroom space that we use all year round as well as using other areas of the school. In order for the children to access the outdoor learning comfortably they need to be dressed appropriately, especially during the cooler months. We encourage a set of outdoor learning clothes to be in school all year.
- wellies (or a second pair of trainers that can get muddy - not PE trainers)
- waterproof jacket/trousers/splash suit
- warm hat, scarf and gloves.
Children are also welcome to bring in slippers to wear in the classroom and a blanket for the outdoor classroom.
Thank you for reading,
