Welcome to Year 3 Class!
Welcome to the Year Three page of our school website.
Please do come and visit this page regularly as it will be updated with photos of our learning.
PE is on Tuesday and a Friday this term.
PE kits should be in school from Monday to Friday in case the timetable has to be changed last minute.
The class are doing team games and fitness this half term.
In Year Three children will also need football books, football socks and a mouth guard.
This will be sent home on a Wednesday and is expected back in school the following Monday. This will alternate between Maths and English each week as well as a project based research task. I will also be sending home a spelling challenge that is to be completed in the 'Home Spelling Book.' Home Learning will be sent either via Seesaw or by the Home Learning Folder.
Reading is slightly different to normal this year and therefore there are no reading records to be sent in and signed. Children's books are sent home on a Wednesday and are to be returned on a Monday. If your child does not return the book on Monday it will unfortunately not be changed.
In school we make time for independent reading. The children have all chosen a book from the Y3 class library. They are encouraged to choose a chapter book that will last a while and this will stay in their tray until they have finished it. We write book reviews and leave recommendations for friends too!
We also listen to the children read daily during Guided Reading. This gives the teacher an accurate representation of how your child is getting on with their reading.
In Year Three the children all need a pencil case. This will stay in school in the children's own tray. In the pencil case needs to be;
- 2 HB pencils
- short ruler
- pencil sharpener
- red pen for editing
- whiteboard pen
- colouring pencils
- glue stick
- named pencil case
All equipment needs to be clearly labelled and in school every day.
We spend lots of time outside in Year Three. We have an outside classroom space that we use all year round as well as The HUB that we access during many different lessons. In order for the children to access the outdoor learning comfortably they need to be dressed to impress, especially during the cooler months. We encourage a set of outdoor learning clothes to be in school all year.
- wellies (or a second pair of trainers that can get muddy - not PE trainers)
- waterproof jacket/trousers/splash suit
- warm hat, scarf and gloves.
Thank you for reading,
