Year Four

Nicola (CAFOD rep) emailed Year 4 to say:

Good morning Miss Marsh and Year 4,

I just wanted to say a big thank you for inviting me to your authentic outcome last week. The rainforest experience in the classroom was fantastic, I was so impressed by the creativity and skill that went in to changing the classroom. The tour guides were very knowledgeable about the geography of the rainforest and it’s importance to our planet, and explained so clearly what the class had been working on. There was so much attention to detail in the artwork on display, and it made me feel that I really had been transported to the rainforest for a moment. The thought and teamwork that had gone in to building a city were clear, and it was wonderful to see. I was particularly impressed by the detailed knowledge and concern that Year 4 displayed in their explanations of the challenges faced by the rainforest, including a very informative PowerPoint on deforestation.

Well done and thank you for your wonderful fundraising efforts in planning and holding your bake sale. The posters you had made clearly explained that you were raising money to buy CAFOD world gifts linked to protecting the Amazon, in particular to help fight fires there, and I know that the money you have raised will make a difference.

Thank you again for inviting me to visit on Friday afternoon, it was a wonderful way to end the week.

Canon Chris wrote and delivered a letter to Year 4 to say:

Dear Miss Marsh and all of "Year 4" and team,

Thank you for your kind welcome at your Rainforest Immersion Session, it is a long time since I have been in a real rainforest (in Malaysia), but your research, guides, artists and special effects (including sound) really brought it to life, and gave me many happy memories. The statistics and information were extremely interesting. What a lovely idea to sell cakes for the "CAFOD Climate Crisis Appeal"...I am a great supporter of CAFOD and know that they will be really pleased too. I can really say "Dobra robota" - good job / well done.

Here are a selection of responses from Year 4's 'Two Stars and a Wish' forms from the day:

Very informative. Liked the interactive buttons!

It was truly an immersive experience. The detail in the children's work was AMAZING! I learnt so many new facts about the Amazon Rainforest.

What a fabulous exhibition. Loved the authentic entrance. Loved all the posters and facts.

The fact that it felt real and authentic - like we were in the Amazon Rainforest. It was amazing, the children were so happy and proud and I cannot think of anything to add.

The rainforest and all the creatures were fabulous! I loved all of your creativity and artwork. All of the news articles about the damage to the rainforest were fascinating (and very sad). It is good for us all to learn what is happening so we can try to help.
